Mental Inertia

Spiritualism! Spiritualism was a real term for the ancient thinkers particularly the speculative idealists. It was the invisible world without which they could not explain the phenomena of the visible or tangible world. They were aware of the link between the visible and the invisible but were not able to trace it. So they created terms like invisible being (niranjan=invisible and formless being (nirankar-without a form) allude to the riddle of the invisible.

But today the things have entirely changed. With the advent of the modern science, the invisible has become clearly visible. In the new age a chemist can stitch two or more molecules together to generate an entirely new one with much more ease than a seamstress can thread a needle. A computer scientist can convert the flow of electrons into letters, figures and images much more precisely than a painter could draw a portrait. Recent inducts of AI into digital technology leave no sustainable doubt even for the dumbest cynic about the manageability of the invisible. The scientist now have techniques to penetrate, explore and manipulate what was considered spiritual some centuries ago. Understandably, it will be a taboo soon to speak of any spiritual or divine existence without requiring any proof in favor or against such notions.

But it is very difficult to change the nature of human. One reason for is that the people are not accustomed to independent thinking or living. They cannot stand of their own without something to recline. Age long culture grown on spiritualism and divinity will continue to haunt the minds of new generations who have no experience of surviving without an idea of help in a world full of multiple risks and potentially hostile environment. As long as fear of the unknown and of the known lurks in the minds of the people, they will not be able to shed the cobwebs of the past ages.

Here medicine comes in to the rescue of man in breaking his mental inertia. A simple small medical treatment (repeated doses of the appropriate remedy) can take away all sorts of fear out of his mind liberating him from one of the most negative emotion.
