Symptoms of Some Mental Problems

        Simply read, do not get alarmed. Here are some facts from medical books and from clinical studies. If somebody says that he is possessed of a spirit or that some supernatural power inspires him or her to do the way he or she does, then that person is mentally sick.  If someone says that he is superior-most in the world and the only one blessed by God, call one not a supercilious being but take one as a mentally disturbed. If somebody claims that he or she talked to the spirits or gobbles, or that he or she knows somebody who died and came beck to relate the experiences of heaven, then he or she is suffering from mental imbalance. If someone believes in the

existence of God who gives one food and  caters to all one's needs, then he or she is suffering from chronic conceptual disorder affecting one's thought process to feel constantly pursued by an abstract or vague idea which one can not locate or ascertain. Similarly, those who undergo severe penances and devotional worship to appease their deity for any reason also display symptom of mental sickness. Needless to say that someone professing oneself a philosopher but actually actually living in dirt and rags, is also a mental wreck needing medical assistance. Medical literature lists myriad such aberrations that need treatment. 

        There is solid reason for identifying the all the above mentioned mental states, and myriad more like them, as mental sicknesses. It is is the absence of logic, experience, objectivity, material evidence, verifiability and reliability in them. As far back as 15th century, Guru Nanak branded such self proclaimed statements as haumai or assertions devoid of reason and accountable content.
